    Responsibilities

    The Role and Responsibilities      

    Bausch + Lomb is seeking a high performing Area Sales Director (ASD) to be part of our Senior Sales Leadership Team and provide strategic leadership direction to the Vision Care sales organization, as well as help develop selling strategies that will enable the organization to drive revenue and earnings. The ASD will be directly responsible for 6-7 Regional Business Directors (RBD), an Area Sales Trainer (AST) and approximately 60-70 Vision Territory Managers (VTM) selling to both independent and retail affiliated Eye Care Practitioners (ECP). They are accountable for the implementation of sales and marketing activity within their geographic responsibility including; hiring, training and development, evaluation, compensation, account targeting and coverage, and efficient and effective deployment of both human and financial resources.  This individual must have a sound business understanding to be able to develop action plans, effectively use operating budgets, analyze region business trends to identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace and to make decisions that will support the overall sales and profit objectives.  The ASD will also work collaboratively with the national accounts team, sales operations, as well as brand and customer marketing to drive strategic planning input for the business unit.

     

    Day to day responsibilities include:

    Area Sales Performance

    • Ensures sales forecast and operational budgets are achieved
    • Provides analysis, insight and direction on company priorities and quarterly goals to attain revenue targets .

    Talent Management:

    • Creates a high performing organization through facilitation of performance management process, coaching and mentoring
    • Recruits qualified talent and develops high potential employees
    • Collaborates with the training team to ensure adequate training programs are coordinated to deliver annual sales plan strategies.

    Leadership:

    • Establish strong performance culture in designated area of responsibility.
    • Co-travels with RBDs and VTMs to observe, coach and remain knowledgeable on customer needs.
    • Participates in cross-functional teams to provide ideas and insights on new strategies, market trends and data analysis.
    • Builds a network of customer and industry contacts to facilitate sales development and successes 
    • Attends major conferences to ensure sales goals are being met and customer experience is maximized 
    • Maintains current knowledge of market and competitive trends. 
    • Ensures Area team compliance to all policies and procedures as well as to AdvaMed Guidelines.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    We are seeking a candidate with:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; MBA preferred
    • 5+ years of healthcare sales management experience in addition to 5+ years of healthcare and/or B2B sales experience (eye health industry preferred) is required, along with a documented track record of success (attainment to goals, awards, formal recognition) in those roles
    • Experience successfully managing large teams across a large geography that include both direct and indirect reports.
    • Broad knowledge of vision care market preferred
    • Outstanding leadership characteristics and ability to inspire a team
    • Proven ability to plan, forecast, and manage financial information
    • Demonstrated abilities for problem solving, creativity, working as a key member of a management team, and motivating/guiding employees to meet division objectives. 
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business trade journals, professional journals, and financial reports as well as write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. 
    • Extensive travel required across Area geography consisting of; VTM/RBD co-travels, attending key customer meetings, industry events and internal leadership team meetings. 
    • Overnight travel up to 70%
    • Able to successfully utilize Microsoft Office suite of products and standard digital technology tools
    • Effectively deliver executive level presentations to senior management, sales team and customers 
    • Valid driver’s license in state of residence, along with clean driving record
