    Microbiology Technician III


    In a medical device regulated environment perform various microbiological testing including sample collection, water microbial and chemical testing, bioburden testing, environmental monitoring, endotoxin testing, QC testing of media.



    • Perform environmental monitoring of manufacturing areas (Viable air, viable surface and non-viable particulate).
    • Collection of and microbiological and chemical analysis of water samples.
    • Product bioburden testing, endotoxin testing, QC testing of media and Process Challenge Device (PCD) preparation
    • Incubate, read and document all microbiological plate results.
    • Support sterilization processes with biological indicators, read and document results accordingly.
    • Maintains inventories of lab supplies, stock and order consumables.
    • Use of standard laboratory equipment including pH meter, spectrophotometer, balance, incubator, oven, pipettes and filtration units.
    • May perform additional laboratory tests under direction of assigned senior Microbiologist.
    • Read and train on all required SOP’s and review completed documentation for quality completeness and cGMP compliance.
    • Write, review and revise SOP’s and/or work instructions for QA Microbiology and cGMP Manufacturing use.
    • Performs QC archiving, logbook management, and records retention.
    • Monitor equipment and/or systems for performance and problem indicators and perform basic metrology duties.
    • Cleans QC/laboratory work areas. 
    • Perform laboratory duties in a manner consistent with cGMP.
    • Wear gowning, sterile garments, and PPE as required by specific activities.
    • Alert Manager/Supervisor when problems occur which deviate from Standard Operating Procedure.
    • Must be proficient in the use of computers and applications such as databases, worksheets (Excel) and word processing (Word). Work must be accurate, legible and error free.


    Required: Associate Degree in Life Sciences with 2 years QC/QA experience


    Preferred: 4-year Degree in Biology/Microbiology and 2+ years previous experience with microbiological testing activities in a medical a device field or cGMP laboratory.
