  • Overview

    Provide technical development/support for regulated applications supporting quality and R&D.

    Responsibilities

    Working within a team comprised of business and technical people in North America and Europe, participate in the development, upgrade, maintenance and deployment of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

     

    Ongoing responsibilities will include:

     

    • Providing timely and quality support to transition from paper-based systems to paperless electronic laboratory testing, reporting and trending
    • Analyze and troubleshoot issues that arise during development or testing, as well as troubleshooting reported issues in production
    • Write/update documentation in accordance with corporate directives including software validation life cycle procedures
    • Assist with training end users
    • Maintain links between LIMS and interfaced systems
    • Provide production support in response to service desk tickets in a timely manner
    • Create/Modify/Execute functional test scripts to support validation efforts

    Provide clear and consistent communication to management with respect to status of assignments

     

    Scope of Position:

    The individual will be required to work within a team comprised of IT and business people to support the LIMS platform which is subject to regulation.  The scope of the position includes reporting, analysis, configuration, development, troubleshooting and testing, production support and change management for this application.  It also includes integrating laboratory instruments to the application.

    Some travel will be required during upgrade/enhancement projects.

     

    Key Relationships:

    The key customers are laboratory managers and technicians that utilize the system to electronically document and report on test results for product release. Additionally, building and maintaining positive relationships with Information Technology peers/managers as well as vendors is essential.

    Qualifications

    Education:

     

    AS in a technical discipline relevant to computers and programming with 7+ years of related experience.

     

    Technical skill sets:

    • Extensive experience in configuring, customizing and maintaining LIMS applications
      • Experience with LabVantage software is preferred
      • Experience with laboratory instrument integration is preferred
    • Experience working with BusinessObjects, Crystal Reports and other business intelligence tools
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server platform, basic networking, interfaces, and supporting infrastructure platform
    • MS SQL Server database (familiar with 2008/2012, linked servers, procedures, queries to pull and insert data
    • Oracle database (familiar with creating procedures, functions, queries to pull and insert data)
    • Working knowledge of SQL, Java, and JavaScript
    • Ability to easily grasp new concepts and tools including JasperReports reporting software

     

    Special Skills:

    • Ability to communicate effectively and interact at all levels from management to staff level
    • Ability to translate customer requirements into measurable design goals/input
    • Ability to plan and organize work, yet quickly adapt to changing priorities if necessary
    • Strong work ethic with ability to function in a challenging, fast-paced environment
    • English/Spanish bilingual communication skills are preferred

     

    Experience:

    Experience in a Life Sciences environment.

    Experience with software development life cycle processes and technical documentation.
