  • Overview

    Experienced internal voice of customer for OR technician, nursing, and surgical staff.

    Responsibilities

    Lab testing on ophthalmic systems and accessories: Plan and execute simulated OR and bench testing and data analysis to establish fitness for user needs and to support marketing claims about technical performance related to differentiated and / or innovative products, product features, and product characteristics.

     

    Document the results of this testing for inclusion in the design history file.

     

    Summarize, internally publish and present results of simulated OR and bench tests and analysis to users and customers internally and at ophthalmic industry shows and scientific forums.

     

    Working with design engineers, identify potential innovations and assess clinical performance-specific design improvements.

     

    Working with Principal Applications Engineer, validate that product designs meet user needs.

     

    Working with team members, lead the lab preparation team in preparing material for the demonstration of product to customers in a wet lab environment in technical and industry showcases.

     

    Working with team members, lead the demonstration of product to customers in a wet lab environment in technical and industry showcases.

     

    Working independently or with team members, lead and execute root cause investigations on product failures on an as needed basis

     

    Individual contributor, focused on voice of customer contributions, influencing peers within the department indirectly through clear communication supported with data. No direct report management

    Qualifications

    Required Education:

    BS degree. Formal accredited training in Operating Room Technician skills or nursing.

     

    Preferred Education:

    Ideal candidate has MD in nursing or OR technology

     

    Work History: 10 years of experience in the OR or 10 years of ophthalmic microsurgical products application support is preferred

     

    Required Skills:

    Working experience in an ophthalmic microsurgical OR, with an understanding of typical equipment, work flows and procedures. Clear communication of concepts and results in simple manner, good written and oral communication capabilities. Willingness and ability to perform simulated surgery on cadaver eyes, with appropriate training provided by the company.

     

    Preferred Skills: Experience in both anterior and posterior ophthalmic surgery environments. Ideal candidate will be organized, self-directing but capable of operating within a team environment. A clearly expressed passion for learning about, understanding and explaining different perspectives of surgeons, nurses and technicians will be valuable.

     

    Specialized Training: Familiarity or experience with medical devices in general, ophthalmic microsurgery, and eye anatomy will be useful.
