  • Overview

    The software engineer is primarily responsible for the development of Graphic User Interface (GUI) software, with support / backup responsibility for Cloud API software and Embedded firmware for the Surgical Cataract and Vitreoretinal equipment and eyeTELLIGENCE infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Contribute on multi-discipline project teams to establish requirements, document design solutions, develop software, develop test protocols, and manage test results and anomaly closure cycles. These activities will necessitate the ability to communicate cross functionally with Project Management, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical and Application Engineering, Quality Assurance and Marketing throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Complete software prototypes for feasibility efforts. Transition feasibility efforts to product development efforts as projects are initiated.
    • Develop Statement of Work (SOW) and requirements packages for outsourced design suppliers. Oversight of software supplier during design, implementation and testing of deliverables
    • Be responsible for the oversight of one or more software technicians during the execution of software verification protocols.

    Scope of Position: Individual Contributor, based at the St. Louis Tree Court site, working within the St. Louis product development group but also working closely with quality, manufacturing, product service, and commercial teams.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:

    Minimum requirements BSCS, BSCE or BSEE. Other Engineering or Science degrees will be considered if previous experience relates to software engineering.

     

    Required Experience:

    • C# /.NET development with Microsoft Visual Studio
    • WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) development with C#/.NET
    • Proficient in use of MS-Word / Excel with large / complex documents to support required design and test protocol documentation

     

    Preferred Experience:

    • REST API development in NodeRed / IBM Cloud configuration and management
    • C++ coding in an embedded RTOS development
    • Use of IBM Rational (ReqPro, ClearCase, ClearQuest) tool suite or equivalent change management system
    • Developing software under regulated environments
