  • Overview

    The Director of Surgical Marketing is team leader for B&L’s cataract equipment and associated accessories, & consumable product lines and responsible for U.S. marketing. This includes: developing the U.S. marketing plans, planning the product portfolio, acting as key strategic interface to R&D and Clinical Affairs in new product development, conducting market research, developing and executing the product(s)’ brand positioning, messaging, and launching new products, product management and sales support, coordinating product life cycle management, and day to day business leadership and support.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct all marketing strategies, planning, tactics and operations, as they relate to the cataract equipment business
    • Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of new product launches to meet or exceed sales and margin expectations
    • Leads the development of Bausch & Lomb IOL product portfolio, messaging, branding, positioning, and all marketing collaterals (Sales aid, KOL decks, digital content etc).
    • Create and implement tactical plans regarding key products, new business, business accounts including contracts, pricing, account acquisition/retention, marketing programs, customer relations.
    • Establish and maintain effective channels of communication to drive the understanding of opportunities, best practices, market position and customer opinions
    • Directs marketing support for U.S. sales team
    • Interface with product line consultants and key opinion leaders
    • Provides financial and market analysis for assigned products
    • Develops and executes professional training program
    • Leads marketing talent development

    Qualifications

    • Education: BA/BS required. MBA in business-related discipline strongly preferred.
    • 8+ years of marketing experience-surgical/medical field preferred
    • Downstream Marketing experience strongly desired
    • Ability to communicate and interact with KOL
    • Strong oral & written communication skills
    • Demonstrated strategic leadership skills
    • Strong organizational management/ability to manage others
    • Demonstrated track record of successfully coordinating the efforts and results of multiple functional areas
    • Ability to communicate the vision, direction and market realities of the IOL and Viscoelastics business to internal and external audiences
    • Ophthalmology experience preferred
    • Medical Device Experience preferred
